Baby Boo

Meet Lisa and Jimmy. Lisa and I use to work together. Because of our age, and the fact that we are both married, our patients would often drill us on why we didn’t have kids. To which we both replied, we do. We have fur kids! Then, we would typically follow up with some joke like, well we can legally cage our dogs, but that’s frowned upon with children. We also worked with a staff of almost all women and most of them had children. That was also entertaining, because we heard lots of birth stories, gross things in diapers, sleepless nights because of vomiting, etc. Now, all those gross stories were always followed up with, but motherhood is the best, really. There was never a dull moment at the clinic and Lisa and I always had each other’s backs!

Sadly, when she became pregnant, we no longer worked together. She’s an avid blogger herself, so I did keep up on her changes, emotions, and funny stories. It’s always weird when you go from seeing someone everyday, to not at all. So, I was super excited to see her for this photo session. We had originally planned for a fall session at an apple orchard. Unfortunately, it rained the day we met, so we ended up at the Franklin Park Conservatory. Lisa looked fantastic! She had the cutest little baby bump. You didn’t even know she was pregnant until she turned around. I have to give her lots of credit for working out during her entire pregnancy. She continued to run and do her hip hop fitness classes the entire time. She was a prego rockstar!

They had decided to not find out the sex of the baby, hence the name “Baby Boo.” Six months ago today, Lisa delivered a beautiful baby BOY! I haven’t met the little guy in person yet, but like I said, she’s a blogger, so I’ve kept up on his life. Hopefully, we can meet to capture his 6 month milestone!

Life is a series of thousands of tiny miracles. I’m just proud to be a small piece in this one ūüôā Happy 6 month birthday baby James and happy first Father’s Day to Jimmy!

Chelsea {Class of 2014}

The good thing about being very, very far behind in blogging, is reliving those fun moments over again. This session was extra special for me, because this young lady holds a special place in my heart.

Chelsea is my best friends sister. I have watched her grow from a rambunctious little girl crawling through blow up tunnels with her sister and I, to a doe eyed little actress at the Mansfield Playhouse, and now a high school graduate.

We decided since Chelsea doesn’t live in Columbus, that we would really use the city to make her pictures stand out from her other classmates. We started at North Bank Park, which is my favorite location! From there we walked the trail to the Santa Maria, and finished at Genoa Park. It was beautiful weather and Chelsea was such a trooper! She was willing to crawl through weeds and rocks and stay in uncomfortable positions all with a smile.

Chelsea is now officially a high school graduate. Yay Chels!!!! We are all very proud of her and wish her much success and happiness in life!

Jaxson {2}

I’ve been working with this cutie for a while now! We decided to meet outside of the Franklin Park Conservatory to capture his two year milestone. Grandma joined us this time, and man, does he love his Grandma! She was so helpful with getting smiles and laughs. Jaxson’s personality always shines in the photos! He’s got the best expressions!

I love fall photo sessions! It’s my favorite season and my favorite holiday. I even brought along my orange ottoman to go along with the fall color scheme. The waterfalls here are gorgeous, but tricky when dealing with young children. The kiddos could walk right into that water! Also, who wants to look at the camera when there’s all that awesome water and rocks to throw? I was so happy though with how the photos came out!

When you’re looking through the photos, pay attention to the one of him walking up the bridge. Can you see he’s carrying his stuffed monkey? So cute!

Maddie & Ryder {urban sibling session}

I love, love, love what I’m about to share with you! ¬†I have been working with this family for quite some time now. ¬†They keep up with their kiddos photos more than any family I know! ¬†We not only meet for milestones, but also for holidays and special occasions like dance recitals. ¬†My only complaint is that I have NEVER been able to convince mom and dad to jump into a photo! ¬†At this particular session I really tried to get a family photo, but was shot down, again! ¬†Mom has promised me that eventually they will!

They chose my favorite destination for this photo session, North Bank Park. ¬†Not only are these kids crazy cute, but how can you not love that skyline behind them?!? ¬†Miss Maddie always has a fabulous dress on and is always willing to show me a “Maddie pose” or one of her dance poses. ¬†Ryder needs a little more work to get a smile, but I never force smiles from him, because his serious face is adorable. ¬†Check out his shoes in the photos! ¬†So cute!

Typically, when I meet families here, mom and dad try very hard to keep the kids out of the water, but not this family!  At the end of the session, the kids were allowed to play in the water and I absolutely love the photos that came from it!  They were so cute running around chasing the water as it shot up into the air.  Especially, when the realized they could put their feet over the holes to stop the water.

I’m having some withdraw from not seeing this family in a couple months! ¬†They had to cancel their last session due to sickness, so we won’t meet again until the weather breaks in either spring or summer. ¬†I always look forward to it though!

Miss Whitney “Sweets”

Since I’m so far behind in blogging, I’m going to share this cuties last two sessions. ¬†I’ve been photographing Miss Whitney since she was in her mama’s tummy. ¬†After her newborn photos, we met for each of her milestones, so I literally watched her grow up in front of the camera. ¬†When I finished her one year session, I felt sad knowing I wouldn’t see her in three months.

The first set of photos is from her nine month session. ¬†This was in August. ¬†We decided since it had been such a hot summer that we would just meet inside at the Franklin Park Conservatory. ¬†These are my favorite photos of her from all of the sessions! ¬†Previously, her mama was disappointed at how serious Whitney was during her photo sessions, since she’s typically a smiley little girl. ¬†That’s why I love this session so much, because we see all sides of her little personality. ¬†The water was her favorite! ¬†The photo of her on her tip-toes, she’s looking into the pond of Japanese Koi. ¬†I didn’t think we’d ever get her away from that spot! ¬†Then, she found the water fountain and realized it was the right height for her to actually touch the water. ¬†She made some hilarious faces in those shots! ¬†My favorite may be the last one, but I love them all.

I am sad though when I look back at how awesome these photos are, because I’m reminded that I can’t photograph inside of the Conservatory anymore. ¬†They no longer offer the photographer membership I had. ¬†My membership expired in November, and it has been very difficult for me to photograph anyone other than newborns and small children because of that. ¬†Hopefully, one day I’ll have a studio and all of that won’t matter! ¬†Until then, here’s Whitney’s awesome nine month photos…

Whitney’s birthday is in November, so you would assume it would be too cold to be outside. ¬†Per Ohio’s typical weird and unpredictable weather, it was actually nice out. ¬†We were able to take some family shots sitting on the front steps of their house. ¬†For Whitney’s solo photos we used some of my backdrops inside of their home. ¬†Her daddy has always called her “sweets” so that was the theme of her party and we incorporated it into the session. ¬†She wasn’t a huge fan of that tutu as you’ll see in the one photo, but as soon as we put candy in front of her she was all smiles! ¬†Whitney stayed true to her “sweets” nickname as she very sweetly offered to share her smarties during the session ūüôā ¬†I also love her little outfit with the Ugg boots. ¬†I always look forward to seeing what mom has picked out for her to model.

I still keep up with Miss Whitney through social media, but as I said, it is weird to not see her every three months. ¬†Maybe she needs a sibling, so I can see them more often again ūüėČ

Grayson is ONE!

We met this family through a mutual friend quite some time ago, but this was our first time working together. ¬†They decided to have some family photos taken to celebrate their little guy turning one. ¬†We had a terribly hot summer, and this day was no different. ¬†They were troopers though the entire time, so you’d never know it was in the 90’s and we were all covered in sweat! ¬†You can see, in some of the photos, just how hazy it was.

We decided to meet at the Park of Roses.  The bad thing about this park is the lack of shade on such a hot day, but it is a beautiful choice for photo sessions.  We were tempted to jump into that fountain to cool off!

The boys did awesome during the session! ¬†Grayson was smiley the whole time and Tristan was my little assistant! ¬†It’s always so nice when it’s obvious that families are enjoying their photo session. ¬†Especially, since many of them admit they weren’t looking forward to having their photos taken ūüôā

The Worsham Family

I’m fortunate to call this family my friends first, then clients! ¬†These are my favorite photos so far of them! ¬†We met last summer at the Franklin Park Conservatory for their annual family photos. ¬†I usually use my 35mm portrait lens for all photo sessions unless it’s a large group, but I changed things up this time. ¬†I used my 70-300mm for the family photos of them between the trees, and I love how they came out! ¬†I was able to give them a lot of space by using that lens, and I think that was the key for the kiddos. ¬†Having someone right in your face with a big camera can be very uncomfortable, so I plan on utilizing that 70-300mm lens more often with families in the future.

You should check out this blog I posted about this family last year right after I met with them for these photos¬†http://sevensphoto.com/throwback-thursday-baby-dylan/¬†¬†You’ll learn a lot more about this wonderful family and why these photos may always be the most cherished!

This photo says it all‚Ķ it’s really hot out and we’re tired of pictures!!

The Lay Family

The winter months are always slow for me in the photography world, because I don’t have a studio. ¬†I’ll mostly be working my Physical Therapy job and photographing newborns only until Spring arrives. ¬†The plus side is that maybe I can get my blog caught up!

Meet the Lay family.  I photographed them for the first time when their son was 18 months old.  Now, they have a little girl, so we meet again to capture family photos at her 18 month milestone.

We met at the Franklin Park Conservatory for the photo session. ¬†Prior to the session, mom had told me that her little girl loved shoes. ¬†I was so excited about this! ¬†I have a purple high heel shoe chair that I knew would be perfect for this session! ¬†We did all of the family photos first, then ended with the shoe chair. ¬†I also brought a couple pairs of my shoes for her to play with. ¬†We didn’t get very many smiles with the shoes, because she was so focused on trying them on. ¬†Father’s Day was right around the corner when we met for photos, so I took a special sign for a father-daughter photo. ¬†It turned out super cute!

I love how the photos show each child’s individual personality. ¬†Their son is a jokester, which you can really see in his spiderman photos! ¬†While their daughter is more on the serious side. ¬†I always really like serious photos of children, so I love all of her photos.

Throwback Thursday {Baby Dylan}

I just photographed this family last week, and they are my favorite photos so far! ¬†“Baby Dylan” is now two and his big brother, Cohen, will be turning five soon. ¬†I’ve known their parents for 11 years now. ¬†Brandy and I worked together for a very long time. ¬†The past couple of years, I unfortunately don’t see them that often since we no longer work together.

Almost a year ago, Brandy was involved in a very serious car accident. ¬†Both boys were in the car too. ¬†Fortunately, the boys only had very minor injuries. ¬†Brandy, on the other hand, had several fractures. ¬†We all know the saying, you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. Well, the only thing they lost that day was their car, but the fact that they could have lost much much more is a scary thought. ¬†I’ll never forget the look on Nathan’s face when I visited them at the hospital. ¬†He was crouched onto the ground in the hallway with his head in his hands. ¬†When he finally looked at me I knew he was thinking about how close he came to loosing his entire family.

Brandy had a long recovery.  Being a mother of two while wearing a back brace and loosing the use of your left hand was definitely not easy.  She made it though!  When we were together last week she showed me that she has lost some motion in her left wrist, but other than that is doing great considering.

We may not see each other everyday like we use to, or even once a month, but I will always love this family dearly. ¬†With the anniversary of the accident approaching, I’m so honored to be capturing priceless memories for them and reminding everyone how priceless our time here together really is.

Let’s end on a happy note with the first photos of baby Dylan. ¬†This was my first outdoor newborn session. ¬†Dylan did awesome the entire time. ¬†I honestly don’t remember him crying at all! ¬†They have the two cutest little guys!

Jaxson {18 months}

This is the third time I’ve photographed Jaxson. ¬†His mom always says Jaxson and I make a great team and I think she’s right on! ¬†His photos always come out so great. ¬†I mean, it doesn’t hurt that he has blue eyes that will melt your heart either!

We had originally planned to meet outdoors at a park, but it was cold and rainy that day, so we ended up at the Franklin Park Conservatory.  The butterfly exhibit is back, so while it was almost impossible to photograph in that particular room, I did get some great butterfly shots.

Jaxson’s mom brought so many cute props to use including a hat, and my favorite, a superhero shirt and mask. ¬†He wasn’t really into wearing any of it, but with the help of mom singing and showing Jaxson just how cool wearing the mask was, we got some great shots!

We’ve already got our next session scheduled together in October. ¬†I can’t wait!
