Austyn Rose {13 days}

It’s very appropriate to share this blog today, because I just worked with this cutie again! These are some of the most unique newborn photos I’ve ever taken and I love them! I knew this session would be extra special, because I’ve known this beautiful girl’s mama for a while. We’ve worked together for a couple years now. Before Miss Rosie came along, I had worked with Erika and her hubby taking engagement photos for them. Those sessions were also some of my most unique! We did a Kentucky Derby themed engagement shoot with mint juleps and all! Then, we met again for an 80’s themed pre wedding party with big hair and satin galore! As I said, I knew this newborn session would be a treat!

Erika loves all things girly! She gets the credit for these fabulous ideas and most of the props are hers as well. This baby girl had a better shoe collection than me lol! The verse on the Kate Spade bag says “she tucked her coral lipstick away and floated back to the party.” The very last photo is of her Baptism dress.

I’m sure you can understand why I just adore these photos! I look forward to many more creative sessions with this beautiful family!

Thad & Kathy’s Wedding

I have photographed six weddings. I have known all of the couples prior to their wedding day, but three of them in particular, I’m fortunate enough to call family. (If you’re reading this Heather Barry and Brian Stevens I’m talking about you!)

I would like to introduce you to Thad and Kathy. You have already met them in a previous blog when I posted their amazing engagement photos. I’m fortunate enough to call them family, because Kathy is my hubby’s aunt.

This lovely and intimate ceremony was held in my in-law’s backyard. They always keep their yard beautifully landscaped. With the addition of chandeliers hanging from the trees and chairs for the guests, it transformed into the perfect garden ceremony. If you remember, we had a lot of rain last year. This day was no exception! Thankfully, it only drizzled rain during the ceremony and the best man’s wife was kind enough to let me stand under her umbrella-ella-ella-eh-eh. Sorry, I couldn’t miss that opportunity! Don’t they say rain on a wedding day is good luck though?

Thad is the sweetest man I’ve ever met in my life! Well, aside from Shannon’s Papaw ūüôā Speaking of Papaw, those suspenders were in honor of him! We are all very, very happy to have Thad as part of this crazy and fun family. He’s also the most photogenic man I’ve ever worked with! I mean, check out those photos below! I’ve never seen Kathy as happy as she is with him. He treats her like a queen. If you’ve spent any time with this couple, I’m sure you’ve heard him refer to her as “queen.” They were truly destined to be together and it was an honor to be a part of their special day.

This day had a little extra special meaning to hubby and I. Thad and Kathy picked June 15 to be their wedding day. That day also happens to be the dating anniversary of Shannon and I. We celebrated 16 years strong that day, so we know it’ll bring just as much joy and love to the newlyweds.

I want to point out some superstars from the day! Kathy’s sister, Robin, is my mother-in-law. She not only hosted the wedding in her backyard, but also decorated the reception hall, made Kathy’s beautiful bouquet, and served as Matron of Honor in the ceremony. Kathy’s niece, Ashley, is my sis-in-law. She designed the beautiful flower head piece Kathy wore in her hair. My amazing hubby, Shannon, set up the speakers for the ceremony, helped me take some photographs during the ceremony, and made the photo slideshow for the reception. Lastly, I want to recognize how amazing all of the speeches were at the reception. Robin, Butch (the best man), and Cody (Kathy’s son) all gave very funny, creative, and sentimental speeches.

I’m honored to finally introduce Mr. and Mrs. Cetinich! Wishing you both a forever of happiness!

The Lay Family

The winter months are always slow for me in the photography world, because I don’t have a studio. ¬†I’ll mostly be working my Physical Therapy job and photographing newborns only until Spring arrives. ¬†The plus side is that maybe I can get my blog caught up!

Meet the Lay family.  I photographed them for the first time when their son was 18 months old.  Now, they have a little girl, so we meet again to capture family photos at her 18 month milestone.

We met at the Franklin Park Conservatory for the photo session. ¬†Prior to the session, mom had told me that her little girl loved shoes. ¬†I was so excited about this! ¬†I have a purple high heel shoe chair that I knew would be perfect for this session! ¬†We did all of the family photos first, then ended with the shoe chair. ¬†I also brought a couple pairs of my shoes for her to play with. ¬†We didn’t get very many smiles with the shoes, because she was so focused on trying them on. ¬†Father’s Day was right around the corner when we met for photos, so I took a special sign for a father-daughter photo. ¬†It turned out super cute!

I love how the photos show each child’s individual personality. ¬†Their son is a jokester, which you can really see in his spiderman photos! ¬†While their daughter is more on the serious side. ¬†I always really like serious photos of children, so I love all of her photos.

Treat everyday like the 14th…

I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day! ¬†I’m sure a lot of you are celebrating this weekend, since it fell on a weekday. ¬†Typically, Shannon and I will do the usual dinner and movie, but this year was extra special for me…

The day before Valentine’s Day, my Aunt Trina and Cousin Tess arrived from out of state. ¬†That evening we all headed to the Maroon 5 concert, which had been a Christmas gift to Tess. ¬†It was a blast! ¬†Our only complaint from the whole evening was that Adam Levine didn’t take his shirt off lol!

The next day, Valentine’s Day, I was able to spend the whole day with Trina and Tess! ¬†As I said before, one of the main reasons I changed my work schedule this year was to have more time to spend with my family. ¬†I feel very fortunate to have the ability to do that, and greatly appreciate how hard Shannon works to make this possible for me! ¬†I took Trina and Tess to visit Shannon at work. ¬†He showed them all around his building and then took us to a very romantic lunch at Chipotle lol! ¬†Actually, Tess picked Chipotle, because they don’t have one where she lives. ¬†After lunch, I took them to the mall. ¬†Tess has her first formal dance coming up, so we helped her pick out shoes and jewelry. ¬†Below I posted a photo of us shoe shopping. ¬†I’m only 5’2, so everyone is taller than me, but once Tess put those heels on, she towered over me! ¬†The other photo is us with the new shoes we bought at Von Mauer.

After a fun day of shopping we returned home to gifts from Shannon! ¬†He had already given me a beautiful Betsey Johnson necklace and earring set, but on the kitchen table was now candy and cards for the three of us. ¬†He’s the absolute best!! ¬†Trina was over the moon about receiving a Valentine! ¬†For those of you who don’t know, Trina was my Uncle Brian’s wife. ¬†He was the police officer that was selfishly taken from our lives five long years ago. ¬†We have been through the most terrible of times together as a family, and that’s why when we are able to spend so much time together laughing instead of crying, it’s beyond amazing for us. ¬†I feel a little selfish saying that this was the BEST Valentine’s Day for me, because Shannon worked all day, but he knows how much I value my family time. ¬†Didn’t I mention he’s the absolute best?!?

My final thought for this blog is to treat everyday like the 14th. ¬†Don’t wait for a Hallmark holiday to do something special for your loved ones. ¬†Everything can change in a split second, so take advantage of everyday. ¬†Also, take lots and lots of pictures!! ¬†All of the photos in this blog are from my iPhone. ¬†In the end, all we will have left is our memories and our pictures. ¬†Everyone have a fabulous weekend, and make lots of new memories! ¬†xoxo

I wanted to share the gifts Shannon and I exchanged…

Isn’t this Betsey Johnson set the cutest?!? ¬†I wore it all day and received so many compliments!

I got my idea for Shannon’s gift from Pinterest. ¬†We can never decide where to eat dinner, so I made this jar of sticks with a different¬†restaurant written on each one. ¬†The other jar is random things we could do for a date night/weekend.

Mommy & Me

I know I am biased about my clients, but holy beautiful!! ¬†I’ve been working with this lovely family since Miss Camryn was in mama’s belly. ¬†It never gets old watching kiddos grow up in front of my camera lens!

This mommy and me session was a Christmas present from Dad. ¬†We decided to keep it very natural and just capture mom and daughter playing in the nursery. ¬†Camryn is not shy in front of the camera! ¬†So, at first, we had a hard time getting her to look at mommy and not the camera! ¬†After a little patty-cake, reading a Dr. Seuss book, and playing in Camryn’s extensive shoe collection, I was able to capture some great moments. ¬†It was really a lovely way to spend a cold, snowy Monday morning!
